Integration of a New Web-based Multimedia Course for Learning Chinese Characters into the Beginning Chinese Curriculum

• Do you want to learn how to help your students overcome their difficulties in learning Chinese characters without adding to your instructional burden?

• Do you want to incorporate user-friendly technology into your classroom and create a new model for language teaching that will excite your department?

• Do you want to develop a course that combines language and culture and will draw more students to the study of Chinese?

• Are you looking for material that can help Chinese heritage students learn to read and write Chinese in one year?

• Are you looking for material that will actually make your students love to study Chinese?

If any of your answers to these questions is “Yes!” this workshop is for you.

·        Morning Session: April 3^rd, 9:30-12:30 (Introduction and hands-on demonstration of the materials.) 

·        Afternoon Session: April 3^rd, 1:30 – 4:30 (Group activities for teachers from weekend Chinese schools, secondary schools, and colleges.)  

We encourage you to attend both the morning session and the afternoon session.

When you register, please indicate whether you are attending the morning session only, the afternoon session only, or both sessions.  

·        The workshop is free.

·        A free copy of  A Multimedia Course for Learning Chinese Characters, field-test version, will be provided to participants who attend both sessions (due to limited availability.)

·        Simple lunch and snacks will be provided.

·        Registration will begin on February 1^st, 2004 and end on March 15^th, 2004.
