Practical language
teaching focuses on what students can do with the language rather than what
students know about the language. Backward Design helps teacher to start
their lesson planning with specific goals/results in mind first, then work
backwards to assess learning and to plan for instructional activities.
This workshop will provide examples of what Backward Design looks like in
the Chinese language classroom. Participants are invited to engage in a
discussion to reflect their own practices in applying Backward Design.
