Chinese language is so much different from the Roman languages that are popularly spoken and learned here.  How to help students better understand Chinese ways of thinking and speaking is very important for learning and teaching Chinese.  This presentation will not only discuss these differences but also show how to employ some most effective methods used in high school classroom.  Furthermore, the presenter will address to how to use the textbooks in class.  As we all know that high school students do not learn much from dull, meaningless ¡°drill and kill¡± exercise and assignment.  Regardless of topic, somewhere competent teachers are teaching that topic, and one of the significant characteristics of the effectiveness is how to make topic alive and relevant to themselves and to the students.  In this presentation, all these issues will be addressed.  We will dig into the reasons why some students lose interest in learning Chinese, so-called the most difficult language.  At the end of the presentation you will not only know why, but also learn how to solve the problem.  For example, the project based and interdisciplinary thematic instructions are ways of discovering how to make a potentially dry and boring topic interesting and alive for students (and for the teacher).
