Learning Chinese in an Electronic World

Major Points:

We are very aware that the integration of ICT into the Chinese curriculum in various ways can enhance learning. However, whether certain media are effective in Chinese teaching or not depends on the way we use them. After taking current situation into consideration, some applications are not widely and fully integrated in Chinese teaching and learning.

Therefore, this workshop will present practical use of the ICT in Chinese classroom from the following aspects: Chinese words processors, multimedia products and Internet. A range of ideas and examples that are recording what some teachers and students are doing now will be provided. Some useful websites and medias will also be introduced. Finally, the presenter will lead the group to share each other’s practice. It is hoped that such a discussion and through justification of these ideas to encourage those who are new to this area to embark on experimentation in their classroom with some confidence.
